FAQ - Frequently asked questions about Camperwolf
Answers to common questions about Camperwolf, the project and its principles.
Will Camperwolf cost money?
No. Camperwolf is intended to remain free to use.
There are no plans to put features behind a paywall or give paying users advantages over other users. The basic idea is a freely accessible platform built around contributions from its community.
How is Camperwolf funded?
Camperwolf is currently funded entirely from private funds.
In the future, we may offer voluntary donations or introduce advertising to help cover running costs such as servers, email delivery and other services.
Funding the project should not result in important features becoming available only to paying users.
Who is behind Camperwolf?
Camperwolf is an independently developed private project. It is currently not operated by a camping corporation, campsite operator, travel company or other large business.
The idea behind Camperwolf is to bring information about campsites, pitches, parking areas and service locations together in one place and keep it up to date with the help of the community.
Why are some places or details missing?
Camperwolf is still being built. Our data comes from a range of public data sources as well as contributions from the community.
This means that some places may still be missing or that we may not yet have complete information about an existing place.
You can help with exactly that: missing places can be suggested, and existing information can be added to or corrected.
Where does the information about places come from?
Camperwolf can receive place information from several sources. These include public data sources, contributions from our users and, in the future, information supplied by verified place operators.
Where possible, we want it to remain clear where information came from and when it was last changed.
Can I add a place or correct information myself?
Yes. That is an important part of Camperwolf.
If a place is missing, you can suggest it. If existing information is wrong or incomplete, you can suggest a change.
The more people contribute their experience and knowledge, the more complete and up to date Camperwolf can become.
Why aren't changes always published immediately?
Not every change is published automatically. Depending on the type of change, it may need to be reviewed first.
This helps prevent incorrect information, spam or deliberate manipulation from appearing on the platform.
At the same time, we try to keep moderation as straightforward as possible.
Can I rely on the information on Camperwolf?
We try to keep Camperwolf's information as accurate and current as possible, but we cannot guarantee that every detail is correct.
Information can change, and public data sources or community contributions may become outdated.
This is particularly important for details such as prices, opening hours, access conditions or temporary restrictions. If something is important for your trip, you should check it with the operator or at the location when in doubt.
If you notice incorrect information on Camperwolf, you can help us correct it.
Why do I need an account for some features?
You can search for places and view information without an account.
You need an account to make your own contributions, such as suggesting places or changes, writing reviews or uploading photos.
This lets us associate contributions with a user, keep changes traceable and better prevent abuse. It also allows us to let you know what happened to your contributions.
Is my personal data sold?
No. Camperwolf does not sell users' personal data.
We want Camperwolf to be a community platform, not a business model based on selling personal information.
Our Privacy Policy explains in more detail which data is processed and why it is needed.
Why are there XP, levels, badges and achievements?
They are intended to make contributing to Camperwolf a little more engaging and to recognize contributions to the community.
Different activities can earn XP and unlock badges and achievements. They do not provide paid advantages or exclusive features.
You can find out more in Level and XP and [[badges-achievements|Badges & Achievements]].
Can place operators manage their own listing?
A dedicated verification system for place operators is planned but is not available yet.
It is intended to allow verified operators to maintain certain information about their place while keeping changes transparent and traceable.
Until then, operators can report incorrect or missing information, suggest changes like other users, or contact support.
Is there a Camperwolf app?
Not yet.
Camperwolf is being developed as a website first, with particular attention to making it work well on smartphones.
A dedicated app is planned for later. For now, the priority is making the main platform reliable and building up useful content.
How can I support Camperwolf?
The best way to support Camperwolf is by contributing.
You can add missing places, correct inaccurate information, fill in missing details, upload photos, write reviews or report problems.
It also helps to tell other campers about Camperwolf. The more people share their knowledge, the more useful the platform becomes for everyone.
Financial support is neither required nor currently planned. If we offer voluntary donations in the future, we will communicate that transparently.
Why is Camperwolf still in beta?
Camperwolf is still under development. During the beta, we want to see how the platform performs in real use and identify bugs or areas that could be improved.
Features may still change, be expanded or be removed. Bugs can also occur despite our testing.
During the beta, it may also be necessary to reset test data or user accounts. We will clearly point this out while the beta is running.
Feedback is particularly useful at this stage. If something does not work, is unclear or could simply be done better, you are welcome to let us know.
